Skit Title: "The Misunderstood Hero"
Characters:
- Teacher 1 (Mr. Alok) – Mathematics Strict Teacher
- Teacher 2 (Mr. Rocky) –, talkative and sometimes irritating Sports teacher loves to make reels
- Teacher 3 (Ms. Premlata) - Dramatic, always jumping to conclusions.
- Teacher 4 (Mr. Mohan) - Economics, a serious at start
- Teacher 5 (Ms. Ruchi) – Hindi teacher who uses idioms in conversation.
- Teacher 6( Mr. Vinod)- Food loving Happy , bit overweight, Physics teacher.
- Teacher 7 (Ms. Naina)- Calm head, computer teacher
- Student (Ravi) - A hardworking, kind student who secretly has a difficult life outside school.
- Ravi’s mother : Hard working , simple Housewife
- Student 2(Mamta): Smiling , laughing
- Student 3(Ashutosh) –student
- The Dhaba Owner – Muscular Strong man
Scene 1: The Classroom
(The classroom is full of students. Mr. Alok, the math teacher, is writing on the board, explaining an equation. Rahul is seated in the back, yawning and trying to keep his eyes open.)
Alok : (turns to the class) Alright, class, who can solve this equation?
(Rahul’s head falls on his desk with a thud.)
Alok: (annoyed) Rahul! Again?! Sleeping in class, as usual. Can you ever stay awake?
(Ashutosh shakes him while girls giggle .Rahul quickly sits up, startled.)
Rahul: Sorry, sir... I was just... (yawns) thinking really hard.
Alok : (sarcastically) Oh, yes, thinking. You must have been thinking so hard that you fell asleep! Do you even listen in class?
(Girls giggle)
Rahul: (sheepishly) Sorry sir , I couldn’t sleep due to electricity issue ...
Alok: (shakes head) You never do your homework either! How will you pass at this rate? Always lying and making excuses.
(Other students giggle. Rahul looks embarrassed.)
(Ms. Premlata enters the classroom.)
Ms. Premlata: (dramatically) Oh, not again! Ravi! First, you “forgot” to do my homework, and now you’re sleeping? You’re always full of excuses!
Mr. Vinod: (walking in with papers) What is this ? You have solved most of the equation wrong ! What happened to you ?
Ravi: (quietly) I'm sorry, sir. I'll try harder.
(A whistle startled all)
Mr. Rocky) :(popping his head in) And you missed sports practice, Ravi! What's going on with you?
Mamta (with bright smile) Sir , he was also sleeping in the class!
(Ashutosh hold his head in fear)
Mr. Rocky) : Next time you will sleep , I will blow whistle on your head ! (whistles)
(The bell rings, and the teachers move to the staff room, leaving Ravi behind, looking sad.)
Scene 2: The Staffroom
(Teachers are sitting in staff room and laughing & talking when Mr. Alok enters)
Mr. Alok: Today again the boy was sleeping in my class ..aur bol raha tha ki light nahi thi ghar me to neend nahi poori hui “
Ms. Premlata: This boy is such a liar! Always has some excuse, and he’s so lazy!
Ms. Naina: I agree. AISA NAHI HAI KI USKE PAAS DIMAAG NAHI HAI ! HAI.. MAGAR AB WO ISKO GALAT JAGAH LAGA RAHA HAI... always looks exhausted.
Mr.Alok : AISA LAGTA HAI MAM, JAISE KI WO PADNA HI NAHI CHAHTA
Mr. Rocky : AREY BAHUT LAZY HAI He has missed practice for weeks!
Ms. Ruchi – LAZY NAHI SIR … MOBILE HAI MOBILE… AADAT PAD GAYI HAI SAB BACHCHO KO US KI .. (and checks her own phone.. every one stares )
Mr. Mohan : Yes , Amazon Prime , Netflix etc. .. movie never ends… by the way have you seen Panchayat ?
Ms. Premlata: Oh yesss.. on one streak ! and that series on Net..
Mr. Vinod : Wait… wait.. we were discussing Rahul..
Mr. Mohan : Oh yes , Rahul is definitely spending his time on these , I can bet!
Ms. Ruchi : Then why not just talk to his parents and do Doodh ka doodh and Pani ka Paani ho jayega ?
Mr. Alok : Exactly.
(Mr. Vinod calls - .. caller tune starts ringing ..)
Ravi’s mother : Ji.. kaun bol raha hai..
Vinod : Hello mam. Main Ravi ke school se bol raha hun , Vinod sir.
Mother : Ji Ji , Ravi bahut Tareef karta hai aapki ..
(Vinod smiles while other teacher stares at him to continue)
Vinod : Jee , thankyou.. Maine ye kehne ke liye phone kiya tha , Ki Ravi aaj kal padai me dhyaan nahi de raha..”
Mother : Acha ! Par wo to extra classes ke liye rukta hai.. Alok sir ki, fir school me football ki practice karke , coaching jaata hai ..Raat ko thak ke aata hai .. fir khana bhi nahi khaata .. apne bhai behan ko padata hai..Waise wo aapki tareef bahut karta hai..”
Vinod : (Forgetting everything) Ji Ji .. koi baat nahi .. main dekh lunga” (and put down the call)
Vinod : Sir, she is saying that he studies in your class , then practices Football in school.. Then goes to some coaching also. We are unnecessary blaming that poor guy.. He praises me a lot !”
Alok : No.. He is not attending the extra class.
Rocky: Nor is he coming for football , practice ..
Ruchi: Hum to doodh ki baat kar rahe they , yahaan to daal hi kaali hai !
Ms. Premlata: This is worse .. he is going somewhere else after school..
Ms. Naina: Maybe we’re missing something. Why don’t we follow him after school and see what he’s really up to?
(The teachers exchange curious glances and nod in agreement.)
Scene 3: Outside School
(Alok, Sujoy, Vinod and Mohan)
(The teachers sneakily follow Ravi after school, keeping their distance.)
Mr. Vinod: Look at him, walking so fast. Where is he going?
Mr. Mohan : He’s probably meeting friends to play or waste time. Watch, we’ll catch him red-handed.
(All starts walking and SPY (Pink Panther or James Bond) music, Plays in background)
Mr. Alok : Ari dada , he has started running !
Mr. Rocky : Let’s Run …
(All starts running) (THODA THODA BHAGA BHAGA SA song )
Mr. Vinod gets tired and starts taking heavy breathes
Rocky teases - (Thodi varjish kiya karo …song and starts showing him Jumping Jacks and Push Ups)
Mr. Mohan – Arey ..just postpone this fitness class and start following Ravi ..”
(Again everybody starts running)
Mr. Alok : Ari Dada, he is taking auto ..
Mr. Vinod : I can’t run so fast .. carry me on your shoulder
Mr. Rocky: “No shoulder in this world is so strong .. Let’s take auto too”
(They all starts following on auto and song – Baboo samjho ishaaree horn pukaare)
Mr. Mohan – Oh , he has stopped in front of a Dhaba ?
Mr. Alok : Let’s watch from here .
Mr. Rocky : But its too far .. we can’t see him
Mr.Vinod : Do some brain exercise too.. Take this (and hands him a binocular)
(Rocky takes and starts looking at the wrong direction . All guides him.)
Rocky : Oh he is having a lunch.
Mr. Alok: That’s why he comes here .. to spend his mother’s hard earned money at Dhaba
Mr. Mohan: Let him come to school tomorrow .. I will teach him good Economics.
Rocky : “He is carrying his dish back … Oh .. He is not coming out.. “
Mr. Vinod : Shall we get in and catch him red handed ..”
Rocky: Wait .. he is coming out with .. a red towel on his shoulder .. and in T-shirt and shorts..”
Mr. Alok : Let me see .. oh.. he is working as a waiter there”
Mr. Mohan : Oh dear.. so this work he is doing after school instead of going home”
(As they come out of the hiding a strong muscular man come in front of them)
Dhaba Owner “Ye kya tank jhaank ho rahi hai mere dhaabe pe “
Alok : “ye aapke dhaabe me hamaare school ka bacha kaam kar raha hai.. Is ko hum le jaane aaye hain”
Dhaba Owner: “Is ke ghar ka Electricity cut gaya hai.. Bill bharne ke liye isne mujhse advance liya hai ”
Rocky: “Oh lagta hai ye aise nahi maanega .. I will have to teach him some Karate lesson”
Alok : “Ab inko Sujoy sir hi theek karengey”
Ashish : Par ….jara.. ek baar..
Mohan Sir : “Arey dariye nahi sir , inke exercise ka video dekha”
All “ Go .. Go
Sujoy do some Marshall art moves like Bruce Lee .. The Dhaba man looks at him without any clue and then all of a sudden Sujoy jumps and in slow motion gives Dhaba owner a punch. With a sudden punch , he moves back few steps.
Rocky shows some winning gesture and all starts clapping
Again Sujoy jumps and hit a punch but this time the Dhaba man remains unmoved.
Rocky goes for a blow again but Dhaba man holds his punch like Batman Vs Superman.
Rocky feels his strength . The Dhaba owner holds his hand , rotates him vigourously 3-4 rounds nad give a hard blow on his back. Sujoy falls down .
Loud whistle can be heard as a music indicating the effect of the punch.
Rocky gets up but has lost his mental balance. He starts kicking and punching all around .
ALL OTHER TEACHERS WERE SHAKING WITH FEAR
Rocky goes to the edge of the stage.
Mohan : “Arey inko sambhaalo, kahin pahaadi se neeche na ludak jaye”
(All catch him)
Rocky : Leave me , Leave me ..I will show him”
Mohan : “Arey leave him !”
Dhaba Owner again take two steps towards him , like a angry bull
Rocky immediately sits on the ground and starts sliding back to move away from him
Rocky (Shouts with terror) : “Catch me .. Catch me …”
Mohan sir : Arey kya leave me catch me laga rakha hai.. Let me talk..”
Bhaisaab , ahinsaa me kuch nahi rakha .. kyun na hum shaanti se baat kar le”
Dhaba Owner: Aap kuch samajhdar lag rahe hain .. bataiye”
Alok : Hum aapko aapka rupya de de rahe hain.. “
Dhaba Owner: “. arey C , jara 3 cup adrak waali chai laana , aur ek haldi daal ke dhood”
Scene 4: The Next Day – Classroom
(The next day, Ravi is in class, as usual, looking tired. The teachers enter, but this time with a different attitude.)
Mr. Alok: (smiling kindly) we have a laborious student in this class”
Mr. Vinod: “Who helps his mother”
Mr. Anuj : “Who teaches his siblings”
Ms. Ruchi: “And also working to earn money”
Ms. Premlata: You’re working, taking care of your family, and still trying to study. That’s incredible, Ravi.
Mrs. Naina: We’re proud of you, Ravi. From now on, we’ll help you balance everything. You just have to focus on your studies..”
Ravi gets happy : Thank You
Song starts :- Wo to hai albela , hazaaro mein akela (all teachers start singing for all the students)
Message at the End:
